Welcome to The Yorkshire Dippers! We are excited to have you join us in exploring the joys of wild swimming. By participating in any activities organised by The Yorkshire Dippers, you agree to abide by the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully before joining any of our swimming sessions.

 

1. Assumption of Risk

By participating in our cold water wild swimming activities, you acknowledge and accept that wild swimming involves inherent risks, including but not limited to, the risk of drowning, hypothermia, injury from underwater hazards, and adverse weather conditions. You agree that you are participating at your own risk and that you are solely responsible for your own safety.

 

2. No Qualifications

The Yorkshire Dippers is run by enthusiasts who do not hold any formal qualifications in lifeguarding, first aid, or swim coaching. We are a social group, and any advice or guidance provided by members is based on personal experience and should not be considered professional advice. Always consult with a qualified professional before engaging in wild swimming if you have any health concerns.

3. Health and Fitness

By joining The Yorkshire Dippers, you confirm that you are in good health and physically fit to participate in cold water swimming. If you have any medical conditions or are taking medication that may affect your ability to swim safely, you must seek advice from a healthcare professional before participating.

 

4. Swim at Your Own Risk

Each member is responsible for assessing their own ability and fitness to swim in cold water and wild conditions. You should never push beyond your limits or take unnecessary risks. Always ensure that you have adequate warm clothing and equipment for after your swim to prevent hypothermia.

 

5. No Liability

The Yorkshire Dippers, its organisers, and other members are not liable for any injuries, accidents, or losses that may occur during or as a result of participating in our swimming activities. You agree to release and hold harmless The Yorkshire Dippers and its members from any claims or liabilities arising from your participation.

6. Swim Safety Guidelines

To enhance safety, we encourage all members to:

• Swim with a buddy or in a group. Never swim alone.

• Inform someone of your planned swim location and expected return time.

• Wear a brightly colored swim cap and use a tow float for visibility.

• Be aware of and respect local wildlife and environmental conditions.

• Avoid swimming under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

• Exit the water immediately if you feel excessively cold or unwell.

7. Respect and Conduct

We are committed to creating a friendly and inclusive environment. All members must treat each other with respect and courtesy. Bullying, harassment, or discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated and may result in expulsion from the group.

8. Environmental Responsibility

We are passionate about preserving the natural environments in which we swim. Members are expected to:

• Leave no trace by taking all litter home.

• Avoid damaging vegetation and disturbing wildlife.

• Follow local guidelines and regulations regarding swimming locations.

9. Photography and Media

By participating in our activities, you consent to the taking of photographs and videos that may be used for promotional purposes on our website, social media, or other media channels. If you do not wish to be photographed, please make contact with Vic, Leia or Emily ASAP.

10. Changes to Terms and Conditions

We reserve the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time. Any changes will be communicated to members via our website or email.

11. Governing Law

These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the United Kingdom.
